Dr. Gabriel V. Diamantis secured his degree in English Language and Lite-rature at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, followed by an MA in Theoretical Linguistics from the University of Essex, UK, and a PhD in Theoretical Linguistics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Greece.
He was appointed lecturer in the Department of International and European Studies, University of Piraeus, in August 2001 and ever since he has been teaching courses on English Terminology in International Relations. He has also served for more than eighteen years as a tenured instructor of Business English in the Languages Unit of the University of Piraeus.
In the early years of his career, he held positions as instructor of English for Specific Purposes at the Athens Technological Institution of Education, School of Graphic Arts and Printing Technology. He has also taught translation skills and theory to learners preparing for the Institute of Linguists Translation Examinations, The British Council, Athens, and has undertaken translation assignments for the Economic and Social Committee of Greece.
In April 2005 he was accepted for an unpaid work placement in the Directorate-General for Translation of the European Commission in the Greek Translation Unit in Luxembourg and Brussels.
He has always specialized in the teaching of English for Specific and Aca-demic Purposes and in recent years has authored several course book pub-lications in this field.
In April 2012 he was promoted to the position of associate professor in English for ESP and ΕΑΡ in the Department of International and European Studies, the University of Piraeus.
