Intermediate Business English is a skills-based course book, which explores different aspects of organizing information related to specific texts on economics and business management.
It provides stimulus material from a wide variety of authentic sources.
It covers the grammatical points, which cause most difficulty at this level.
It involves learners in dealing with business situations, thus developing interactive communication.
It is one of the series used at the University of Piraeus, especially designed for students of economics and business management at an intermediate level.
Intermediate Business English offers the student a new perspective on the important field of Business English. The main concern of the book is to facilitate business English learning through a variety of tasks aiming at:
a) reinforcing the ability of learners to comprehend specific concepts and jargon and infer meanings related to texts of economics and business management,
b) acquainting learners with specific collocations and enabling them to make the most appropriate choices in reconstructing business texts,
c) involving learners in interactive activities so that they will be able to deal with business situations,
d) reinforcing writing techniques through the development of tasks that help learners to construct texts in English as part of their studies or work.
The structure of units has the following order:
a) an authentic text followed by comprehension questions,
b) a vocabulary task for consolidating the most important business jargon and collocations,
c) a variety of tasks to introduce new terminology and constructions of business texts,
d) grammatical tasks focusing on the most important grammar at this level,
e) business situations offering learners the ability to interact with each other in important decision-making business issues.
Intermediate Business English is an intermediate course book especially designed to cover the needs of University students who are involved in the field of business management and economics. Carefully selected texts on Information Technology (IT) have been included.
